Lady Scream

I did a picture of a ghost as part of my efforts to branch out into people pictures. I was looking it over when I thought how much the face looked like the figure in the painting "The Scream" by expressionist artist Edvard Munch. [link]

So I decided to add background and color in such a way so that it would look like a female version of the Scream. It didn't turn out so vibrant but that cause I used colored pencils not paint or pastel like the artist used. But I still like how it came out. This is the first full color picture I've done since my tarot cards. [link]

Now fun facts! When Munch was asked what inspired him to paint this scene he said this -

"One evening I was walking along a path, the city was on one side and the fjord below. I felt tired and ill. I stopped and looked out over the fjord—the sun was setting, and the clouds turning blood red. I sensed a scream passing through nature; it seemed to me that I heard the scream. I painted this picture, painted the clouds as actual blood. The color shrieked. This became The Scream."

The landscape in the background is the Oslofjord, viewed from Ekeberg, Oslo, Norway.
