Interesting Conversations about Movies and Television

~About TV~

Katie: Last night I dreamed that Sam Winchester and I fixed a lawnmower and then Dean Winchester taught me how to drive his car. We then drove out to some po-town and used the modified lawnmower to mow down some pesky ghosts. Then we all got pizza. I DON'T WANT TO BE AWAKE OKAY.

Mom *Watching Battlestar Galatica* Is this the last season?
Dad: Yes. You ask that every week.
Mom: I got this weird feeling they’re going to kill off the whole human race.
Dad: They can’t do that. If they did they won’t be able to make a movie.
Mom: What makes you think they’re going to make a movie?
Me and Dad: *at the exact same time* They always do.

~About Movies~

Katie: So Pacific Rim is probably just the most fun movie ever. Think Hellboy combined with Evangelion combined with Independence Day. I loved it! :)

Katie: You know what movie they should make?...“The Vampire of Zorro…With Robots”

Photography Teacher: *One teacher to another* Oh you’re watching ‘Murderball’ in class?
English Teacher: Yes
Photography Teacher: The sex part is the best.
English Teacher: I don’t show that part.
Photography Teacher: Why?
English Teacher: Well…It makes me uncomfortable.
Photography Teacher: That’s your problem
Student: I have got to rent this movie.

Graham: Saw the new Star Trek yesterday. It wasn't very good. Makes me worried about the Star Wars series...
Rob: If that's all you're worried about, you are leading a charmed life.
Kerry: I thought Star Trek was AWESOME!!!
Katie: When I think of Star Wars these days it makes my stomach twist. I'm so so worried about it.
Kerry: I was too, but now JJs got it.
Rob: I'm actually more worried that Nicholas Cage might be a vampire -- particularly since his appearance hasn't changed since the movie Valley Girl came out in 1983. 30 years -- same haircut -- same face -- very suspicious. I think Obama should ask Eric Holder to do an inquiry.

Josh: Okay, so, hear me out here: Incredible Hulk is a sequel to Fight Club and Tyler Durden is Banner's mental self-image of the Hulk. Wait, where are you going?...

Me: *about the movie Watchmen* It’s like having a thumbscrew on while being high. You don’t know what is going on or how to feel about it at the time. But later, when the movie is out, and you have time to sit down and think about it…you still don’t know.

Abby: So the plan is we go to Sean's house and watch "Tron", the original one. Then we go to the Movie Theater and watch the sequel, "Tron Legacy" then we go back to Sean's house and watch "Lesbian Vampire Killers"
Me: ...Repeat that last movie?

My Boss: Hey who did Matthew Broderick play in that Ferris Bueller movie?

Katie: So I saw Disney's Christmas Carol today. That movie is f*cked UP. I LOVED it.

Mom: I'm traumatized for life.
Me: It's your own darn fault. I told you not to go see Twilight.

Josh: Okay guys, we really need to stop counting Loki as part of the Avengers. Saying Loki is your favorite Avenger is like saying Doctor Doom is your favorite member of the Fantastic Four, or that Hitler was your favorite member of the Allied Forces.
Jovian: Loki was my favorite bastard ice-giant.
Me: Mine too!

Toby: You know the last scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark? That scene where you got this little old man wheeling the ark down this massive warehouse full of stuff? I want that job.

Katie: I mean, okay the fact that they are even re-vamping Lone Ranger -at all- gives me some implication that they have to at least poke some fun at the inaccuracies of Westerns in general.
Me: Don't look at me. I gave up on taking Westerns seriously after Cowboys and Aliens.
Katie: >.> It took that long? XD. What about Dances With Wolves? Or The Searchers? Or High Noon? None of them are accurate. None of them but Wild Wild West and Shanghai Noon… Totally kidding!
Me: It's probably sad that out of all the films you just mentioned I've only seen the last two.

~About Movie trailers (which get more reactions out of people the movies themselves.)~

Me: Just watched the trailer for Thor 2, here is a basic breakdown of what it shows: Thor sees his girlfriend again ok good, then… big action scene, big action scene, big action scene, big drama scene and- Holy hell what happened to Loki? His hair has come alive and is trying to eat his head!

*Reactions to How to Train Your Dragon 2 trailer*
Katie: AFGLIGRGNRGKJ THIS TRAILER CAUSED SO MANY ENDORPHINS I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF.
Natalie: AAAAAHHHHH I CAN'T WAIT!!!!
Me: I wanna a Dragon!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Andrew: At first I was like, awesome! HTTYD sequel! *watch* ... NOW I KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL!!!!!
Peter: EEEEEE.

~About Theories about Movies~

Josh: I hate how they butcher the Transformers theme song. It's always been the same. The lyrics have always gone. "Transformers. More than meets the eye. Transformers. Robots in Disguise. Autobots wage their battle to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticons. Transformers. More then meets the eye." It's always been the same lyrics.
Me: It scares me that you know that so well.
Josh: ...How do I know that?
Katie: Funny how I love him.

Boy in History class: *about Avatar* It's FernGully meets Pocahontas.

Film History teacher: That is very hitchcockian. Yes, that is a word.
Student: No it's not.
Film History teacher: No? Well it should be. You all know what I'm talking about right?

Student: (about Charlie Chaplin) He's not a genius. If he was a genius he wouldn't have been homeless.
Film History teacher: OH! Don't even go there.

*showing a scene from an old black and white film in class*
Film History Teacher: This director liked playing with vertical lines. There are more telephone poles in this one shot then there are in any one place on the planet.

Film History Teacher: The scene shows how time progresses. First shot the guy holds her hand. Next scene he kisses her hand. Next scene he kisses her on the lips. Next scene they are married with kids. This is not how babies are made by the way!

Dani: Disney does do stuff other then princess movies. They just do more princess movies because they do well. Cinderella, Snow White, Frog, Tangled, the Emperor's New Groove-
Me: Wait, what? The Emperor's New Groove didn’t have a princess! I grant you it did have the gayest drama-queen emperor in existence but who am I to judge?

Katie: All right all right so I have finally seen the first Superman movie. A massive hole in my cultural education has been filled!
Me: How was it?
Katie: Wow... I want to tear Lex Luthor's wig off and throw him out a window and I wanna kick Lois in the balls. That said it was a beautiful movie full of mystery and plot holes and I loved it.
Me: ...Wig? You’re joking right?
Katie: I wish I was.

Me: Why do action movies never win awards? It’s always the sad, serious, boring films.
Mom: That’s not true, Return of the King won Oscars.
Eileen: That was one of those Star Wars movies right?
Me: >_> No.
Mom: It was Lord of the Rings.
Eileen: Oh those films about the talking lion and the closet.
(I will never understand why my mother is friends with this woman.)

Me: Having just watched Iron Man and Rise of the Guardians back to back I wonder what it says about my sanity that I thought a film about Santa and the Easter Bunny was a better Hero/action film.
